Extremely Rare 15/16th Century Bronze Breech Loading Spanish Cannon

Very large - over 6 and a half feet long and 225 pounds!

This is the very first Spanish cannon we have had available is several years and also the first Breech loader in almost four years!

It is VERY rare to be complete with a breech block as these are almost always missing.

Notice the very high raised decoration above the trunnions.

The barrel is perfectly straight!  There is a little yellow paint on the trunnions ends that we have not removed.

The bore is 1 3/4 inch.

This is NOT a sea salvage cannon! and is in excellent condition, except for some minor damage to the extreme rear of the cannon as shown in the following photo;

Note: the raised Leaf around the touch hole (firing vent) on the breech block which is also rare!

This cannon war acquired from a private collector's estate in the USA who had it in storage for many many years in a very dusty area that was

unprotected and when we received it was very dirty as shown below.

We normally sell cannons just as we receive them, but in this case, we did wash this cannon with very mild soap and fresh water. The photos above  show the cannon when it is still wet after washing and therefor, the patina appears somewhat darker then it actually is in "real life".  The two photos directly below are closer to the actual true color, a more reddish bronze with some greenish patina. These type cannons were no longer produced after the early 1600's, as they were too dangerous to fire, because of the gap between the breech block and the cannon caused blow back to the operators!
